The Fruit of Another - April 11, 1994 by Laura Knight
Lying there in the shadows,
Comfortable and innocent,
You tempt me.
Seemingly sleeping,
You ask me to wake you
Though you speak no words.
Responding to your silent call,
I cross the room to kneel at your side.
My whisper wakes you first
But, for me, you are not awake.
You still lie there
Hugging the sofa
And for a moment I let you lie
While I watch your body rise and fall
With every soft breath.
My resistance weakens,
I must touch you.
Electricity surges through my body
As my fingertips massage your strong back
This, wakes you.
My touch causes you to jump
And to momentarily defend yourself
But soon, you succumb to my warmth
The sensation of my hands
Massaging your body immobilizes you.
Your resistance weakens, too,
As your fingertips find their way
To my neck and back
Though you say you only touched me
To see if I might stop touching you
For this is only a dream
A dream I wish would never end
A dream I wish to be reality
For we have almost crossed a line
We dare not cross
But when you taunt me
Pressing your nose against mine,
Your smooth, seductive lips
A mere inch away
I must gather every ounce of strength within me
To resist your tempestuous kiss,
Then I wonder if you feel the same.
I wonder, in another world,
Would you love me
As passionately as I would love you?
