The Greatest Sin - March 12, 1991 by Laura Knight
To some, the black ribbon wrapped around her wrist was merely her unique style.
To others, it covered a plead for happiness, a solution to depression, a hope to smile.
Most regarded it without care, made jokes, even complimented on the unusual thought;
But others thought they saw beneath it, saw how very desperately she fought.
In reality, she simply did an experiment to find what people's inner feelings were,
A performance she was proud of, one that made friends' beliefs and hopes stir.
But now she had a decision to make, whether to continue to hide and tell her lies
Or to actually commit the greatest sin, to let the blood drip beneath her ribbon,
To cowardly die.
