From To Search for Love by Laura Knight ©2000
Twenty-eight years had passed and I hadn't yet found her in this life. After not finding her in my last life I was afraid I would never find her again. I was living my sixth life and through them all Meara LeLand remained my only love. Unfortunately, she never remembered her past lives, but I always knew her by her emerald eyes and her smile. I almost missed her that day at the movie theater, but my friends had never failed me.
"Aleyn, have you ever seen such a beautiful creature?" Todd asked and nodded to my right. I noticed her silken blonde hair flowing down her back, and then she turned and looked at me with emerald eyes. Our gazes locked and she walked towards me. She was wearing the emerald necklace I had given her as a wedding gift during our first life almost 400 years ago - the only time we were married. I was glad I had worn my dark blue silk shirt; she had said the color brought out my "sapphire eyes". Maybe Meara would remember this time. I twirled my ring around my finger. She had asked a jeweler to etch a raven into the thick band for a wedding gift. I found it in every life, usually at an antique shop. I wondered if she always found her emerald necklace. The last time I had seen her she wasn't wearing it.
I stepped away from my friends as she approached and held out my ringed hand. "Hello, my name is Aleyn Nix. Might I have the pleasure of your name?"
She gripped my hand, her fingers sliding over my ring. "I'm Megan Valora. You may think this is strange, but I felt this urge to come meet you."
Her smile melted my heart. I didn't want to let go of her hand. "Are you here alone?" I asked.
"Oh, no, my friend is around here somewhere. We're going to see that sci-fi movie in theater two. How about you?" she asked and tried to pull her hand away.
"We actually just came from there — you'll like it," I said and kissed the back of her hand. "I would like to see you again, so we can get to know one another. Where would you like to go?"
"I've always liked Italian food for a first date. There's a relaxing atmosphere to Italian restaurants," she replied with no hesitation.
"Great, give me your address and I'll pick you up tomorrow night at 7:00 for dinner," I said and finally released her hand. She reached into her purse, pulled out paper and pen, and scribbled down her address. "'Til tomorrow, mon cherie," I said and bowed deeply before her. She smiled before turning back to find her friend.
